Most families arrive with no idea where to begin. That is the ordinary way of it. We will sit with you, show you what is possible, and go at whatever pace suits you. If coming in is difficult, we will meet you at your own home instead.

Nobody arrives knowing the difference between a slant and a bevel, and there is no reason you should. Here is the whole range in one place. When you come in, all of it is standing in front of you at full size.
Four full-time artists, and you see the drawing first.
Harrison Monuments was the first monument company in this area to offer a professional, full-service design team. Four full-time artists work on nothing else.
They are trained in the latest design software, and they will give you a full-colour layout drawing before anything is cut. You will know exactly what the finished stone looks like while it is still on paper, and while it can still be changed.
Alongside that sits the old-world craftsmanship our founder, Wilber Harrison, taught the family. Both hands are still on the work.
We brought the first laser to the Tri-States in 2003.
Harrison Monuments was the first to bring laser etching on stone to this area, and there are now more than twenty five years of combined engraving experience behind the machine.
What it allows is detail that no other method reaches. A photograph of a face. A truck. A guitar. A dog lying in the grass. A whole collage of small pictures gathered onto one stone, so that what stands in the cemetery actually looks like the person it is for.
Custom lettering and portraits are cut the same way, precisely, into the polished face of the granite.

Bring the cemetery name and the section if you have them, because that decides what size and type of stone is allowed. If you do not have them, come anyway. We will still get somewhere.
We design it with you
Our artists work up a full-colour layout drawing. You see a realistic rendering of the finished monument before it goes into production, and nothing is cut until you are happy with it.
We make it
Sandblasting, lettering, carving and laser etching, using the highest quality materials in the industry and the traditional standards our founder worked to.
We set it in place
The finished monument is delivered and installed at the cemetery, and we stay with the project from the start of it to the finish.

Sixteen granites, and every one of them looks different in daylight.
Some families choose by colour, because it was the one she always wore. Some choose by the pattern in the stone. Either reason is a good one. These are photographs of the actual granite, not swatches.

The same family, in the same town, since 1963.
Harrison Monuments was established in Warsaw, and three generations of the Harrison family have worked here since. For more than fifty years we have served the communities of Illinois, Missouri and Iowa.
In 2006 we opened the Quincy showroom and design facility. In 2011 we acquired Brinkoetter Monument of Quincy. Between the memorialists here there are over seventy five years of combined experience in stone.
The leaf in our mark is a fall leaf. It brightens the autumn and then returns to the earth to feed the spring, which is as near as we have come to saying the thing we mean: that the past keeps giving life to what follows.
You will deal with one of these people, and then keep dealing with them.
Not a call centre and not a different voice each time. Whoever sits down with you at the start stays with the project until the stone is standing.

What does a monument cost?
It depends on three things: the size and type the cemetery allows, which granite you choose, and how much carving or etching the stone carries. Those are the levers, and you control all of them.
Come in or call and tell us roughly what you have in mind. We will show you our selection, our craftsmanship and our pricing together, so the figure comes with the stone in front of you rather than on its own.
What should I bring with me?
The cemetery name and the section, if you know them. Those decide the size and type of monument permitted. Any spelling of names and dates you want on the stone, exactly as you want them written. And a photograph, if there is one you would like etched.
If you have none of that yet, come anyway.
I cannot get to the showroom. Can you come to me?
Yes. We will meet you at your convenience, in your own home if you wish, and bring our selection to you. Say so when you call.
Do I have to decide anything today?
No. Nothing goes into production until you have seen a full-colour drawing of the finished monument and told us it is right. Up to that point everything can still change, including your mind.
Can you put a photograph on the stone?
Yes, two ways. Laser etching cuts the image directly into the polished granite, which gives the highest level of detail possible in portraits, custom lettering and collages. A ceramic portrait is fired and set into the stone instead. We will show you both and you can see which you prefer.
There is already a stone in the plot. Can you add to it?
Yes. On-site cemetery lettering means we come to the cemetery and add the date or the name to the monument where it stands, without moving it. We also restore monuments that have weathered.
Are you open on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturday mornings from nine until noon, and weekdays from nine until five. Outside those hours we will open by appointment. Weekends and evenings are often easier for families who are travelling in, and that is no trouble.

Choosing a stone from a screen is hard. Standing in front of one is not. Both showrooms are indoors, so it is worth the drive whatever the day is doing.
